Small Black Madal

Madal is a national musical instrument of Nepal. This popular small black Madal hand drum is used mainly for rhythm keeping in Nepali folk music and during festivity and enjoyment. It is made of a hollowed tree trunk with skins stretched in the cylindrical body of a slight bulge at its center and heads at both ends. It is usually played horizontally in a seated position, with both hands simultaneously. The instruments are especially played on folk songs, and at events such as wedding and welcome party.
