Description
Batik is a technique of manual wax-resist dyeing applied to whole cloth, or cloth made the same way. Batik is formed either by drawing dots and features of the resist with a spouted tool called a canting or by printing the resist with a copper stamp called a cap. The applied wax resists dyes and thus allows the artisan to paint selectively by soaking the material in one color, removing the wax on boiling water, and repeating if multiple colors are desired.
Batik Washable Shiva Painting portrays Shiva holding his traditional appendages Sankh (Shell) and Trisul (Shiva’s weapon). He is the god of death and is one of the most powerful gods in Hindu culture. Lying at the center of a dark, black chaos is the prime creator, made distinct by the use of rustic grey paints. An art of antiquity, this Shiva batik painting is matchless in aesthetic beauty.
