Mahalaxmi is the goddess of wealth and fortune is worshipped during the third day of the festivals of lights – Tihar or Deepawali in Nepal. Lakshmi is one of the main female deities of Tridevi besides Saraswoti and Pravati. She nurtures and nourishes life, and is often associated with Lord Vishnu. Traditionally, Nepalese clean their homes and decorate them with garlands of marigold and traditional oil lamps, colorful flashing electric lights to worship her.
