Ahilawati was a female character in the famous epic Mahabharata. She was a Naag Kanya meaning a snake girl and was married to Bhima's son Ghatotkacha. Hindus considered snake as a god since ancient times. In Kathmandu, god Narayan in a sleeping position on five headed snake can be seen at Budhanilkantha.
