An old wise man is selected as the representative of the village who in turn select a group of elders to form a council to discuss and decide for the welfare of the entire village. Thus, elders are respected in Tharu society.Personally , Tharus are very clean, hence the houses and environments are found to be clean and healthy. Mud walls in the houses are painted by women and girls with different colourful motifs, animals and birds.
The main occupation is agriculture and livestock rearing. Every Tharu has a household deity called “Gun” who is offered milk and silk cloth, while pigeon and chicken as blood sacrifices.All the village pieces are meticulously created in wax, then individually cast to re-create the details of the original. Hand-painted and fade resistant. The box is made out of recycled paper.
