Newar Mini village

Newars are masters in all branches of craftsmanship-metal stone, wood, gold and silver. Examples of their skills can be seen in temples, palaces, gates, houses everywhere in Kathmandu. Newari literature is extensive and have developed script of their own from very early. They are also skilled astrologer, good merchants and hard working farmers. There dwelling houses are made out of handmade red bricks with timber frame work and the characteristic window construction. The houses are usually more than 2 stories and constructed in a compact way. The streets are narrow with tall buildings on both sides. Each community has a courtyard and a gate.
